Is an entrepreneurship major is worth it? Download the FREE Majoring in Entrepreneurship: What To Expect Guide: http://sidehustlelife.co/entrepreneurship-guide

In this video with Dr. Zane, Program Director for Entrepreneurial Studies and entrepreneur with experience building and selling companies discuss what a typical entrepreneurship major entails and what entrepreneurship courses at a university are like.

According to Dr. Lee Zane, entrepreneurship is really a holistic and creative view of a business. You can’t have a narrow focus if you’re going to take a product to the market. You need to understand the following:

1. Who is my customer?
2. Why do they want my product?
3. Who is my competition?
4. How do I compete against them?
5. What is the cost for me to deliver a product to the market?

Before choosing entrepreneurship, Dr. Lee Zane discusses how to identify if a school has a good entrepreneurship major.

While majoring in entrepreneurship, Dr. Lee encourages students to double major as possible to give them more job opportunities and cross-pollinate their ideas.

And we discuss the best business majors to combine with entrepreneurship. Like pairing an entrepreneurship major with finance or marketing.

We also discuss:
1. Do entrepreneurs need a college degree?
2. What is a typical entrepreneurship major like
3. The differences between an entrepreneurship major and other business majors
4. Job opportunities after going to college for entrepreneurship
5. What to look for in an entrepreneurship program
6. How to improve the chances of getting in to an entrepreneurship program
7. Who would like and who would not like majoring in entrepreneurship

What is an entrepreneur?

entrepreneurship No Comments »

http://businesswales.gov.uk/bigideas/
The folk at Big Ideas Wales know that there’s no one better to tell you what’s an entrepreneur and the skills you’ll need than: entrepreneurs. So they asked some, and here’s what they had to say…

Attitude, creativity, organisation and relationships were the 4 key points that make a successful entrepreneur:

Having a positive attitude will get you a long way.

All you need is a bit of imagination and the ability to think a bit differently and BINGO, youโ€™ve come up with a brilliant new idea.

To get to grips with the day to day running of things good organisation is essential.

Running a business is definitely a people thing. The more people you know the easier it will be to use your powers of persuasion and get things done.

How to Know If You're Meant to Be An Entrepreneur | Kiki Ayers | TEDxBuckhead

entrepreneurship No Comments »

According to Kiki Ayers there are key traits natural born entrepreneurs have stemming from an early age.
Speaking from her own experience of working a 9-5 to her journey to entrepreneurship, Ayers makes the case that being an entrepreneur isn’t something that be taught. Though there are skill sets you can learn through workshops, speaking engagements and courses, she argues that the determination, motivation and dedication is something you either have or you don’t.

Before her success as an award winning journalist, entrepreneur and advocate, she ignored many signs that she wasn’t meant to be an employee and through survival skills and taking a leap of faith she’s now successful as a serial entrepreneur. Ayers Publicity

Keโ€™Andrea โ€œKikiโ€ Ayers is the C.E.O of Ayers Publicity and a multi-media Entertainment Journalist. Through her experiences in Journalism she has built a foundation of media contacts. Stemming from the Howard University John H. Johnson School of Communications, she majored in Journalism and minored in English. She spent all her time in school interning for major outlets such as MTV, BET, NBC and CBS Radio. entrepreneurship 101, understanding entrepreneurship basics and fundamentals

entrepreneurship 101, understanding entrepreneurship basics and fundamentals. An entrepreneur is someone who organizes, manages, and assumes the risks of a business or enterprise. An entrepreneur is an agent of change. Entrepreneurship is the process of discovering new ways of combining resources. When the market value generated by this new combination of resources is greater than the market value these resources can generate elsewhere individually or in some other combination, the entrepreneur makes a profit. An entrepreneur who takes the resources necessary to produce a pair of jeans that can be sold for thirty dollars and instead turns them into a denim backpack that sells for fifty dollars will earn a profit by increasing the value those resources create.

this comparison is possible because in competitive resource markets, an entrepreneurโ€™s costs of production are determined by the prices required to bid the necessary resources away from alternative uses. Those prices will be equal to the value that the resources could create in their next-best alternate uses. Because the price of purchasing resources measures this opportunity costโ€” the value of the forgone alternativesโ€”the profit entrepreneurs make reflects the amount by which they have increased the value generated by the resources under their control.

Starting your own business will solve everything thatโ€™s wrong about your job, your life and more importantly, about how you feel. Becoming an entrepreneur will give you more flexibility, more freedom, more joy, more recognition, more meaning and hopefully on the long run, more money. Right?

The reality of being an entrepreneur is much harder than most people are willing to open up about. In a culture where successful entrepreneurs are idealised like rock stars it’s easy to feel like we’re not good enough when comparing ourselves to the picture thatโ€™s painted by social media.

Mark Leruste exposes the truth behind the life of the every-day entrepreneur and why itโ€™s important that we talk openly and truthfully about the pressures and struggles associated with starting a business and what it actually feels like.

Finding your path isnโ€™t always a straight line. It usually takes hits and misses and trying many things out. This is how it was for Mark, whose journey towards his dream career started when his video CV, โ€˜A dream job would be niceโ€™, went viral on YouTube and helped him land a position as Country Manager at the Movember Foundation. There, Mark raised โ‚ฌ2.8 million for menโ€™s health and inspired 110,000 fundraisers to sign up at Movember.com, winning multiple awards along the way.

Four years into the job, it became clear that Mark couldnโ€™t ignore his entrepreneurial itch anymore, which had been around since he was 12 years old. So, against conventional wisdom, he decided to turn his passion into his full-time job and took the plunge to found The Unconventionalists, a weekly podcast, talk show and coaching & training business helping organisations and individuals find their voice.

From making Nelson Mandelaโ€™s right hand man cry to asking Tim Ferris about his fear of failure, Mark is an expert at using his warm manner to tease out the truth & create moments of honesty.

To date, Mark has worked with hundreds of unfulfilled professionals and frustrated small business owners and has interviewed more than 200 world-class leaders, entrepreneurs, athletes, politicians, CEOs, authors and adventurers from around the world, providing him a ring side seat in understanding how ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things.
